IMPORTANT (HOW TO PREVENT MINOR BUG): 

After beating and restarting the game, you will be stuck with a "Boss" enemy overlapping other enemies in every fight. Simply close and repoen the game to resolve the issue, and they will be gone for your entire run of the game. 

This bug only occurs after finishing your first run of the game. I encourage you to close and reopen your game, and try repeat runs to discover new dialogue and ally stats!

GAME DESCRIPTION:

Welcome to the Realm of Via, a place of serenity, relative tranquility, and supposed hidden treasures deep within the dank dark depths of its dungeons!

In this narratively 2nd person RPG, you play as Lyran the Lowly, the sidekick to the main hero, Renatus the Mask. Together alongside healer Edea the Ethereal, this intrepid trio is questing for supposed riches in a deep dungeon within the realm of Via. However, the hero betrays you by making you open up a Pandora's box that eternally curses you with dark magic known as Umbra. Your new quest after his betrayal is to find a new team of travelers to accompany you in resealing the box while learning how to use your dark magic for good instead of letting its corrupted thoughts ruin your heroic reputation!

This is the debut game of the newly-formed development team, "A Decided Half Dozen".  The game was created for Jonny RaZeR's Bad Ideas Game Jam 2026, with each of us having varying degrees of experience with game development. Since the jam's theme was "outside the box", we decided to have our game's story center around an opened box and learning how to creatively work with what you initially see as an obstacle to persevere!
